Facebook is a social networking site that is aimed more at the college crowd as opposed to the whore known as MySpace, who lets anyone participate. In trying to keep up with the ever popular MySpace, Facebook has begun to unlease a few new features earlier this week, and if you listen carefully, you can hear a cry of joy from internet stalkers across the US.
The newest set of features for Facebook includes a little box on every persons profile which is alot like an RSS reader but it shows everything a user is doing within the site. Such things that are tracked range from any type of change you make to your profile such as your dating availability, to any new goup that you decide to join or leave. This level of tracking is a little overboard in my opinion, and others across the net seem to agree. Facebook says that all information displayed is nothing that wasn’t available before, its just now in an easily accessible and readable location.
In fairness to Facebook, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Users are able to remove actions from their feeds that they dont want others to be able to see, and your privacy settings also apply.
While this is a pretty neat addition to Facebook, it is certainly nothing that will win over people from using MySpace. In fact it may cause people to be less likely to use the site who dont want to worry about their every move being watched by any and everyone that comes across their profile.
