Lost Season 2 Season Finale Review
Tonite was the Lost Season 2 finale and it didnt dissapoint. Many questions were answered, but basically the whole scope of the show changed and left you more confused than you have been through-out season 1 and 2 combined in the last 30 seconds of the 2 hour finisher. If it did leave confused at the end with the Russian guys acting frantic and calling Penelope (Desmonds girlfriend), here is what I believe to be what is going on.
In this episode you get to see Desmonds flashbacks and are introduced to Penelope, and her dad who obviously doesnt want him involved with his daughter. He pays desmond off but, he refuses, and decides to enter a boat race that is being ran by Penelope’s father. Desmond wants to win the race just to spite her dad. If you have been watching the commercials, the Hanso Corporation commercials always play and are tied to the show, with a new website for you to go to each week in search of new clues about whats going on with the island. If you watch the commercials it always zooms in on a blury man standing in the window. That man is Penelope’s father. He is dressed exactly like her father was in the show tonite, and he is a very rich man which you could tell from him riding in a car with someone driving him, and the amount of money he offered Desmond. Penelope also said that she had a lot of money when questioned about how she found where Desmond was when he was at the stadium training with Jack in the background.
He is in my opinion the one in charge of the Hanso Project which is doing the pyscological experiement that is taking place on the island. The Others are the true and original members of the Dharma Innitiative conducting the experiement being funded by Penelope’s dad and the Hanso foundation.
Other things learned from the finale.
1. The plane crashed due to the system failure, and the electromagnetic charge pulled the plane in and caused it to crash.
2. Desmond’s boat returned due to the same electromagnetic charge.
3. Henry Gale is the leader of The Others
4. The map on the blast doors was made by Kelvin
5. Locke was wrong about the numbers counting down not doing anything.
6. It seems that the real observation that was happening was with the people in the Pearl hatch and that all that they were recording in the notebooks were going no where and just piling up outside in the middle of no where.
New Questions opened up by the finale.
1. Will Michael betray his friends and actually leave? Or will he go back to the camp and try and get his friends back?
2. Why was Hurley on the list if all they wanted him to do was leave and tell people not to come back. No one would have been able to find that place anyway as far away as it was. And why did it have to be Hurley?
3. What happened why Desmond turned the key and made the noise, and bright light?
4. What happened to Sayid?
5. What are The Others going to do with the 3 people they kept? They said they would not harm them, and said that The others were “the good ones” when Michael asked who they were.
6. Who were the Russian people at the end. It seemed to me Penelope hired them in order to find out where Desmond is and knew to look for some type of electromagnetics.
7. What happened to Locke and Eko?
8. What was the deal with the bird that Hurley thought said his name?
9. Libby was married to the man with the boat. How did she end up going into the same institution that Hurley was in?
10. Still no answer on the significance of The Numbers.
Put your responses to the questions in the comments and we’ll see what everyone thinks.
For more information and theory on Lost see Evan’s post about the Lost Season 2 finale.
UPDATE:
Another thing realized is that Calvin/Kelvin was the same man that was in the army when Sayid was captured and forced to torture the commander in order to find out information. Also what was with the big statue foot with 4 toes?
Ok, I think firstly, the plane did crash b/c of the reason you said BUT Kelvin intentionally let himself be followed by Desmond, thinking there would not be enough time for him to go back and put in the numbers. So I think Kelvin was in cahoots with the Dhama Initiative or the Others to cause the plane to crash b/c he knew the plane would be flying overhead and cause it to crash. Also, Kelvin continued drawing the map, but Razinsky (or whatever his name was) started the map. And the people at the end, I could swear they were speaking Portuguese, not Russian. I’ve got more things, but I’m still all sorting it out in my mind.
I tried to answer your questions in my comments here http://www.evankroberts.com/2006/05/lost-season-and-season-3-and-2-finale.html
I believe that Libby went to the mental institution because of the loss of her husband. If you watch her closely she looks like a person ready to crack.
The hurley thing,
I really think it has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that the writers threw him into the mix becuase it made it harder to find a connection between the people on the list and why they wanted them. If it was just Jack Kate and Sawyer it would have made more sense to us as viewers. But it ‘kinda’ makes sense they would make him go back and spread the word not to mess with the others although theres probably better ways they could have dont it.
How could Penelope possibly know that desmond crashed on an island and in order to find the island you need to look for electromagnetics. All she knew was that he was going to do the boat race that her father was hosting she still has no clue if he crashed or maybe just didnt want to see her again.
^Well, If my theory on her dad being behind the hanso foundation is true then she could have picked up on some clues from him and his experiement. Obviously she knew in some way to look for electromagnetics if she has the 2 guys monitoring and waiting for the magnetic signal to set off the alarm, and then they call her and say they found it.
They were speaking Portuguese. I had the closed captioning on and it said “speaking in portuguese.”
My question is:
Why did Kelvin ask Desmond if he was the one and then ask him what did one snowman say to the other?
Why did Locke ask Desmond that same question?
It is interesting that Penny is looking for Desmond, but that doesn’t answer all the connections of the other people.
How did Desmond find his boat so quickly, and was he sailing for 4 or 5 weeks? That doesn’t make sense. And why aren’t the others after him? He’s been there for 3 years.
Why was Kelvin faking with the whole suit up and stuff? For 3 years…
Don’t forget the giant foot with four toes. That is quite possibly the strangest thing we saw.
What abou the staue of the foot wth 4 toes? Wasn’t there a port in ancient history with a 60-foot status stratalling the entrance and they say an earthquake broght it down. Could it be a lost island, like Atlantis? Could the writers be settling us up for a “Lost in Time” scenario where they really are a “snowglobe” as Desmond said completely in another dimension from the real world? God there are so man questions.
Jack, Kate & Sawyer taken – but why now?
I was wondering why the decision was made to ‘take’ Jack, Kate & Sawyer. Earlier this season, in the episode ‘The Hunting Party’, we witnessed the “don’t cross the line” incident. During that confrontation Kate was a prisoner of The Others and the group tracking Michael (Locke, Jack & Sawyer) was surrounded. It was dark and Jack had just lighted the torches, thus making them easy prey for those nice stunguns. Locke could have filled the messenger role now given to Hurley.
Jack, Kate & Sawyer have not been selected randomly from the passenger list, so we can assume The Others already had info on the three of them which makes it highly unlikely they were not recognized during the incident by any of The Others present there.
-> Was their presence needed for an experiment? (was the imprisonment of ‘Henry Gale’ planned?)
-> Did Walt supply The Others with info which lead to Jack, Kate & Sawyer being ‘selected’?
What are our thoughts on the printed data which Locke and Eko gathered? After reading it Desmond concludes the ‘system failure’ he caused has resulted in the plane crash. But what do we know about this data? It is a print of a logfile which The Others could have altered or just constructed to have the survivors draw conclusions from it The Others want them to. To me it looks like The Others are capable of controlling the magnetic field. And when you are able to ‘steer-crash’ a plane on your island in a way which insures the survival of a large number of its pre-selected passengers I say you have some really nice gadgets which you want operated by professional technicians – not by labrats. By now it seems somewhat clear that the crash was there to get the selected passengers on the island, so just using the magnetic-field to break a plane in midair and then wait doesn’t seem like a professional way to get them down safe. Pilots are well trained, but I doubt their training includes flying frontsections – also tailsections still don’t have autopilots. It seems The Others can use the magnetic field to have some degree of control over large metalic objects like planes and boats, in order to get them down ‘semi-safe’ or pull them from the open sea to the island. This would explain why Desmond fails to escape the island by ship, he is not allowed to leave and his ship is pulled back and directed to survivor-beach.
Fire away!
my thoughts on some of the questions presented in the comments about why kelvin kept the farce with the suit up for three years is b/c kelvin wanted to keep desmond scared to go outside so he could take care of his business with the ‘hostiles’. he had to make desmond think something terrible would happen without a suit; when desmond saw a tear in the suit, he knew it would be safe to go outside.
desmond knew where his boat was b/c he saw it when he followed kelvin.
i think kelvin asked desmond originally about the snowmen and carrots b/c kelvin wanted to know if desmond was affiliated with the hanso foundation/dahrma as an inside person or as a pawn. when desmond didn’t know the answer, kelvin knew he wasn’t an “other” or whatever. when locke asked desmond the same question (or vice versa), was it because desmond had asked him that when locke first made his way into the hatch; therefore making it an inside joke of the sorts? i don’t remember…I’ll have to rewatch the first episode.
my initial thoughts on the call to penny was that when the portuguese guys saw the light flashing, they assumed desmond had killed himself (all the hatch people were dead) and the button couldn’t be pushed, leading to the system failure. i thought that since her dad was obviously involved with the project, that they could ‘confirm’ desmond’s death to penny because desmond was in charge of pushing the button and it wasn’t pushed (system failure). not sure if that’s off the mark, though b/c i turned my closed captioning off before the guy told penny whatever he did, and i didn’t quite catch all of what he said.
also, the statue seemed very greek to me. it kind of reminded me of the statue of constantine, where he looks very cartoonish.
OK, before you start flaming me, I ADMIT that I don’t know everything (or even a small percentage) about the show. I watch the show. I love the show, but I don’t pretend to know what is going on.
With that said:
It seems to me that to even begin to understand what is going on, you FIRST have to decide if the plane was crashed on purpose, or if it crashed solely as the result of Desmond not entering the numbers into the computer.
My OPINION: The plan was NOT crashed on purpose.
For the plane to have been crashed on purpose: Kelvin would of HAD to have known exactly when the plane would have been “in range” {possible}, Kelvin would of HAD to have known that Desmond would follow him out of the hatch on that particular day and time {possible – not certain}, and Kelvin would have had to have kept Desmond out of the hatch long enough to keep the buttons from being pushed {possible – not certain}. So, if I want to crash a PARTICULAR group of people on an island (and have particular people live), is this the way I would do it? NO WAY! Even if Desmond is manipulated to ensure the crash, how could I be sure the people I want to survive actually survive? No way the plane was crashed on purpose. Why wouldn’t I just pay the pilots a gazillion dollard to crash land the plane right off the coast? I would have much better odds that way.
If the plane was NOT crashed on purpose (and it was not), then WHO was on the plane was not “manipulated”. Right? Why manipulate who was on the plane because the plane was not going to crash.
If the plane’s manifest was not manipulated to get certain people on the plane, then who had contact with who before the flight is certainly very interesting (ane confuses -on purpose?- the viewers), but does NOT tell us why certain people ended up on the island. Right?
Trevor
I think the others included Hurley, just so he could go back and warn the Losties. I think Kelvin was instructed during 1 of his trips outside to make sure not to push the button at a specific time in order to bring the plane down and he would be leaving the hatch at that time, maybe to sail to another location on the island or away. I think the plane was loaded with selected people and selected cargo which would be pulled by the magnetic field. the cargo was loaded in the tail so the tail would be violently pulled away. Maybe one of Oceanic’s mechanics had popped a few rivets to weaken a selected part of the plane.
I’m portuguese and they were speaking Portuguese
I’m trying to figure out what all the connections between everyone mean because that seems to be the biggest mystery. Wasn’t the military man who let Sayid go in Iraq also Kate’s father? Or am I confusing characters? If I’m right, that means that her father (Kelvin) was killed the same day her plane crashed – does that mean anything? These are the connections as I remember them and maybe the connections made in the airport* don’t mean anything:
Kate – Kelvin
Jack – Ana Rosa*, Desmond
Sawyer – Jack’s Dad
Locke – Rose*
Hurly – Libby
Sayid – Kelvin
Libby – Hurly, Desmond
Ana Rosa – Jack*, Jack’s Dad
Who am I missing??
Something that’s been bothering me…and I think has been overlooked for clues…
Have we figured out what the heck those heiroglyphics mean? You know, the ones that are mounted on red when they don’t push the button?
Also….Michael was told to direct his boat to 325 degrees or something to that effect. Am I one of the few that thinks that everyone was of course listening, and now that Hurley knows that – shouldn’t he go back to his own camp and tell his friends that “Hey…we should take the friggin’ boat and go 325 degrees once we reach the other side of the island” ??
….Or is that too logical. ?
Libby’s husband’s name was David, and Hurley’s imaginary friend’s name was Dave. Coincedence??
I think Libby was in the mental institution because of depression from losing her husband, like Dan says. She probably tried to kill herself or something, and some family members put her in there.
It’s possible that Libby also has something to do with the Widmore family. Her boat was what led Desmond to the island.
Aren’t the guys in the frozen area at the end speaking French? It sounded like French to me, which would tie in with Rousseau, who was French and wrote the map in French. Maybe they tie in with her group (who no one’s mentioned in awhile). Who were they working for, why were they there, and did all her team die, or are they some of the others?
The 2 men at the end were speaking Portugese.
Ok, the guys at the end were speaking Portugese. It doesnt really matter what they were speaking at this point becasue we know nothing about them for sure.
Did anyone else see the face in the big bird’s wings? I pushed pause and watched frame by frame and i saw a face. check it out!
Yes, we got many questions answered but we are forgetting about the polar bears and the black smoke that made noises (or call names), the horse and all the other misterios things and people we saw early on the show, where all just hallucinations? I doubd it.
The show has mentioned Faith many times and destiny a couple, we live in a small world, a possibility of all these people being in the same plane, and somehow knowing each other, is very possible.
How do the “others” know there names, very easy, they know a lot more that we think they know, why, because the rich man can have access to any names on the plane or any information about their lifes. The others knew all their names just few day after the crash.
Okay guys, the plain was NOT crashed on purpose, there is not way as Trevor commented:
“For the plane to have been crashed on purpose: Kelvin would have had to have kept Desmond out of the hatch long enough to keep the buttons from being pushed {possible – not certain}. So, if I want to crash a PARTICULAR group of people on an island (and have particular people live), is this the way I would do it? NO WAY! Even if Desmond is manipulated to ensure the crash, how could I be sure the people I want to survive actually survive?”
Also: why was Charlie acting like nothing happened? You think he would have told the rest of the group about the incident and that Locke, Eko and Desmond were possibly trapped or dead? Having concussion seems unlikely.
I’m still unclear on the whole “infection” thing. Is the vaccine for real or it a fake as Desmond said it didn’t do anything? Does this infection even exist?
I guess Hurley was included because they needed a messanger although I’m not sure why they picked him – perhaps they knew about Libby dying?
When Rose visited the healer in the Outback he said that there were certain places on Earth which had strong electromagnetic/geological forces. I was reminded of this when Kelvin/Calvin was drunk and saying he couldn’t put the key in to “end it all.” I’m not sure if this is relevant or is just yet another coincidence.
When is Rosseau going to be back?
A few thoughts.
Hurley’s imaginary friend was Libby’s husband (when Hurley talked to him on the island, he mentioned his boat, didn’t he?).
Remember that the numbers won Hurley a lottery (rigged?) and if so, why…it happened much earlier (while Desmond was in prison?).
The “Others” have a thing about “names…” which apparently have power. (And why wear disguises unless you don’t want to be recognized by certain people at certain times?)
Perhaps Charlie is acting like nothing happened because he doesn’t remember (or know) what happened…
In theory, there is a difference between just letting the clock countdown VERSUS using the system override key to SHUTDOWN the magnetic engine.
Desmond’s triggering the plane crash could be just the reverse. The magnetic machine was to pull the plane in “safely;” but Desmond’s intervention is what triggered the WRECK.
Also, everybody is shooting somebody (before the island and after).
could there be 2 groups of “Others”?
I only ask because as Jack, Kate, Michael, Hurley and Sawyer were heading to the Other’s camp they shot one of the two people following them. Why would the others need to watch them if they knew exactly where they were going?
The fact that henry gale(or whoever he is) said they were the good guys, infers that there are bad guys…right?
I am of the opinion that something happened to Charlie in the hatch. He was acting strangely. I think he will play an important role as season 3 progresses.
I think there could be two groups of others, but we are only seeing them as one. I think there is a good group of others which is the ones henry gale is in charge of and they are “the good ones”, and then there is a second group would make them the bad ones, and the leader could be that guy that trapped charlie and beat jack up in earlier episodes. Im not sure of his name.
Henry’s group of others are the more sophisiticated ones and use the costumes in order to look like the more primal group of others.
the guy jack beat up was Ethan, but we saw him associating with Zeke (TOM) at one point…
Henry’s people may be fooling them as well with the costumes making them think they are part of their group? maybe maybe not.
Charlie killed Ethan during fight #2 with jack
I don’t believe there are two groups of “others” they call themselves the good ones because most of them are doctors and they took the children and certain people so they can be save and wont’ have to go through everything the rest of the passengers going through (eating, sleeping, health, etc). And Ethan was the doctor who almost have the baby taking out of his mothers womb (I forgot her name) and yes, Zeke (TOM) was the one taking to Ethan in the same episode.
Maybe they called themselves the good ones because the rich man if the one who is really in charge of everything and he is the one keeping everybody in the island for this experiment.
hey guys
something weird happened while i was watching the finale!!, which i downloaded because it doesnt come out in the UK for ages!!! when micheal led sawyer, jack, kate and hurley up to where the pile of note books were, i had a glich in the media player so i paused the file. Just as i did it captured a still image of a camouflaged style silouette of a man/woman with a gun blended in with the trees in the background. did anyone else see it? it would make sense as somebody had to be shooting those darts. similarly when u pause the epsiode with Ekos back story you see pictures in the black smoke……. could this be a clue………still so many questions………….its driving me insane……. i love the way that calvin just so happens to be the American military guy who makes sayid torture his commander that cannot possibly be coincidence there are so many links between characters now. how thw hell can they tie it together. Libby must have a more significant part to play in the past………….
charlie says when he is asked by claire and bernard ‘where is locke and eko?’ …………aren’t they back yet? did he see them get out?…………….does he know where they went and what happened. surely if he had amnesia he would have said that he didnt know or couldnt remember……….. Abrams and Lindelof surely wouldnt rely on the classic amnesia gag…. they are evidently much more strategic then that!!!!!! its all significant. charlie is gona be really important in season 3 thats my theory anyway
Macca, can you take a screenshot and post a link to it? Or let me know and you can send it to me and ill put it up for everyone to see.
i checked out the section that macca talked about and something weird definitely happens but its very hard to see, the wispering voice at this point in the episode clearly says the word Elizebeth along with some other stuff which i couldnt make out. check it out. Elizabeth is the name of Desmonds boat………….but also Libbys full name. i have trawled the web for lost clues and found some transcripts of the wispering from when shannon died and other occasions. i hate to say this but ‘i hear dead people’ the voices from previous episode transcripts were Boone and a German voice, Anna Lucia says after the night that the others first come that they have taken the children and the ‘big German guy’ are any of them actually dead? the island has a healing power remember…….Locke and Rose are both cured. i know that shannon, anne lucia, libby etc have all been buried but who knows with lost. any thoughts on this theory?
Someone saw the dharma orientation video ??, the guy in the classroom ( teacher of a kind of institute ) looks like Henry gale, he has beard, eyesglasses , maybe he is a scientist of the hanso foundation
what about Walt’s powers? The Others said they had got more than they bargained for and wanted to give him back.
By the way guys this is brilliant stuff you all have excellent imagination and if the producers of the show had any sense they would sack all their writers and use all the wonderful theories posted on the net. You never know – maybe they do… : )
Remember the statue of 4 toes? And the guys speak Portuguese…
There is a real city called Toes, Portugal.
http://www.thehansofoundation.org
OMG it’s a crazy clues site
I believe, the children, the ‘big German guy and the other 6 people (9 were taking the first time, right?) that were taking are still alive for sure, they were taking either to be tested and cure or to be set free. Shannon, Anne Lucia and Libby are for sure dead, with all that blood there its no way it didn’t happen and yes Steve is right they all have been buried.
scott
i have paused the episode so many times in the place where i originally saw the silouette, shadow, invisible……..whatever it was. and i cant find it again. it is really beginning to freak me out. i wasnt imagining it because my girlfriend saw it too. somebody else must have seen it. please tell me i havent gone insane from being so hooked on lost. Also i heard about a show in the 80s called the island which ran for a long time and never concluded. i hate to say it but could the whole show be a physcological experiment to see how long we keep watching………..does anyone know if the producers allready know what the ending is going to be? and what date does season 3 start? some cracking theories here by the way.
when the sky turns white nobody actually seems that bothered afterwards. the others on the pontoon are pretty chilled out about it, no one seems to be running around going ‘what the hell was that?’ so that would lead me to beleive that the others must know what is going on. they have to be from dharma. as ‘zeke’ or Tom and Ethan were both working in the hospital when claire was in there, they said that ‘he wont be happy’. were they reffering to Henry Gale or possibly Mr Widmore? when kate and rosseau went back to the ‘hospital with claire it was deserted. same with the computer room. they dharma people or the others (pretty sure that they are the same people) took everything from the hospital, they even took the childrens pictures off the wall in the wall in the room where claire was being kept. surely they left that place because they knew that the location had been compromised????? then why leave such a massive clue as the fake beard and hobo outfits……..? like wise if they bolted from the computer monitoring station why leave all the print outs, video etc behind, i would be inclined to be in agreement with Joost (see posting 12) that all these things are plants to make the losties think what they want them to think. then again ‘henry’ seemed pretty pissed off about Tom having taken off his beard………..so who knows. i do know one thing though. Lost Rules!!!!!! this site is also awesome.
when the hell is series 3 coming out, anyone got any idea????????????
it starts sometime in september and goes till november, then starts back up for the 2nd half of season 3 in january
Going back some way here but what do you guys think about the significance of the numbers. Libby, Dave (maybe he was maybe he wasn’t) and Hurley were all in the hospital with the chappie who was repeating the numbers over and over. Was it his wife that Hurley visited to find out about the numbers when he realised they were bad luck and she said something about her husband being at sea and receiving a signal (sorry, I can’t remember that far back too well).
Help me out here, the times and dates on the printout were all similar to the numbers. Could they be a significant time and date in the log?
Aaarrgghhh!!!…so many questions!
The numbers were also the seat numbers of all the people on the flight
2 things – magnetic fields and areas with high electromagnetic activity are often found at places where there is paranormal activity, or a person thinks there is paranormal activity.
That’s why when someone claims to have a haunted house, one of the 1st things they test to see if the ‘haunting’ has natural non paranormal causes is if there is a high electromagnetic field or electromagnetic activity/areas there.
Electromagnetic fields also disrupt sleep and sleep patterns in people. Manipulating electromagnetic fields and their intensity and duration could be used to mess with peoples heads and make them “see” and “hear” things that arent there, possibly.
Also, the “others” are dharma doctors and they hide because they were on the plane, and because they (at least some) are among the group, and would be recognized. Jack is one of the “others” planted in the group, he was the one to point out the “others” among the group to begin with and point out people that weren’t in the plane before it crashed (supposedly).
He pointed fingers to get all suspicion that he is even remotely connected with the others off of him, and to assimilate into the group faster and easier. He is a plant of some sort, or is not what he appears to be on the surface.
dharma was supposed to be some kind of freethinking experiment/colony, maybe the “lost” are patients, or subjects of an experiment in human society/interactions, with the others being the doctors/scientists who go between.
Also, the names of some people, Locke, Rousseau, – philosophers who dealt with freedom of the mind and person as well as what it means to be imprisoned/trapped.
Walts dog is being effected or controled somehow too, or perhaps he has been altered by one of the cryptozoological experiments dharma was doing, the dog was what woke up Jack in season 1 getting him up to start helping ppl, and the dog is what brought charlie those statues, kinda a weird thing for a dog to ‘fetch’….
the white flash light and the nonchalant reaction to it by everyone maybe means that the light is a trigger of some sort, like it flashes, and a reaction that has been subliminaly planted is triggered in the people, perhaps it is a call or signal of some sort to the others that are among the group to go to a cartain place or whatever
The key supposedly turn off (that was the bright light) the Electromagnetic power, that’s why the Quarantine thing fell off the sky “to end it all up” so the island can be found now. That’s why the Portuguese guys were able to located them (because the release of the electromagnetic power) Now the boats won’t be bring back to the island anymore. Now they can escape if they really try to do so.
Lost 3 won’t be show until October 6, seven episodes and then back in January for another 12 episodes right?
Ok guys after expending a good few hours reading and thinking about it here are some possibilities. Scout what do you think?
Remember the drawing that Locke draw, 5 hatches all around and a question mark in the middle. It means that there is one more hatch we haven’t seen yet and maybe there is where the “others” live, eat, sleep, write, will bring Kate, Jack and Sawyer. Here are the first 4
1. Where Locke, Eko and Desmond are
2. Where Anna Lucia, Libby, Eko and the other 3 where staying before they found the other group
3. Where they took the expecting mom (I forgot her name). Later she found the place herself
4. The place that Locke and Eko found, where they watched the other video and found out about the notes.
So what is in the question mark, maybe there is where they will find all the answers, computers, people, notes, and the real person in charge and all of this is, of course underground (here is where locke was being pulled into a hole by the black smoke.) Someone said that the hatch on the beach was a hatch from another place besides the swan-place, this could be it.
For sure coming back next season: Locke (to obvious why), Desmond (to obvious why), Walt is one of the most important characters of the story, especially with his abnormal capabilities. Appearing few places in few occasions, the polar bear (note singular – there was only ever one). if you go back and watch that episode, you see that Walt is reading a comic book with polar bears in it.
again in Walt’s flashback when the bird slams into a window (at his stepfather’s place) – he was reading something on birds at that point.
Walt cannot leave the show.
Now something that nobody has talked about. Hugo got Lotto numbers from freaky guy repeating the numbers over and over and over. I bet this guys was in the island before and made back to civilization, same numbers and lost his mind, I wonder why? He might even be the guy that was there before Desmond.
Are there any “others” inside the group of the losties?
I am the only one that wonders how has Charlie is being able to survive and still be alive, okay this is what I think:
Charlie was with Claire (pregnant girl) when she was taking by Ethan
He never told anybody what happen, he was in silents for a long time.
He was hanging from a tree from his neck, but was still alive
He supposedly is the one that shot Ethan
On the 5/17 episode he gave some Dharma shots for the baby, he said he found them where? He said, he used it himself, he sure knew a lot about it.
Way back in one of the first episodes, he dated a girl (brown hair) Her dad had a lot of money and power and he offer Charlie a job, which he didn’t take, did he?
He wasn’t taking along with kate and the other guys, because he is a nice guy or because HE IS ONE OF “the others”? If you agree with me in any of this thoughts, please let me know if I am forgetting any more clues.
Now I am not sure about this one but I still have my doubts.
Libby is part of the experiment. Gave the boat to Desmond, Was at the same place with Harley (hugo), They didn’t show as much about her. She was holding a thick blanket when she was shot. So we didn’t see her get shot, just looks like it. She was a nurse, psychiatric doctor, a scientist?
If when sawyer shot at the guy with the fake beard, the bullet bounced off him episode 5/17, it means that the bullets are fake and Libby is not dead, and maybe just maybe Anna Lucia is not dead neither. Charlie could have change the bullets long time ago and they have the fake ones all this time, Remember when Michael try to shot the big bird and the bullet was fake? So maybe Ethan and Libby are still alive. Now I know what are you thinking what about Jack, would he know if somebody is not dead. Could he, is he on it too?
That’s anybody else has any more seat numbers, other than these ones?
Anna Lucia’s seat was 42f,
Jack’ seat was 23A
Rose’s seat was 23D
Bernard’s seat was 23E
I love the show as well and all my ideas have basically been described there. One idea my sister-in-law pointed out to me ….I don’t know if is true i never looked back to see but do any of you remember the episode where Jack’s dad was drunk when performing surgery and killed the woman and we found out she was pregnant when she was killed … well when they went out to tell her husband, the father of the baby it was ethan…. i don’t know if it’s true but then maybe that could be why he was so obsessed with claire’s baby. Also after reading tricia’s thing maybe walt was reading something on the plane about being on a lost island or something….
dont know if this has been said couldnt be bothered reading them all but. . .
if desmond was in a long distance boat race his boat would have some sort of beacon for tracking purposes.
which would be cloaked by the electro magnetic field, while it was still operational. but then if there was nothing for so long you’d give up . . . . actually thats what i’ll do. im going to give up trying to figure it out.
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tricia, please leave your email address in the email field on a comment here. I own this site and would like to see if your interested in working with us on a project me and a friend are putting together. No one will be able to see your email address but me.
Thanks!
What kind of project is it?
i have a map of all the hatches and what each of them are for. each is part of a seperate different experiment………..who want s to see it?
^Same goes for you Steve as the comment i left in number 54, leave your email in the field for a comment, and ill give you more information about the project we are working on. Once you do that I will email you, and you can send the map to me and ill put it up here for you.
What I havent seen so far in this discussion has missed out that there is probably more proof that there are two sets of ‘others’. Half was through season two, when Ekko an Jin were searching for Michael, they had to hide under the bushes because the others were there. However, these others had a child with a bear, who we find out was another lad who crashed on the other side of the island. However, when we see all the ‘others’ in the finale, we do not see these two children. Very strange indeed.
what episode do they see the bird?
plus i think the guy that gave hugo the #’s is ravinsky because there was an incident, but i don’ think it was killing himself i think he escaped but was crazy. Kelvin doesn’t mention it much, because i don’t think he wats the losties to get ideas.
hey steve im a lostie can u give the map
ya steve can i see that map
Here is a question: The whole plane was crashed due to system failure. Which means someone in the hatch had organized it. You could organize them to crash, sure… but how the hell do you organize anyone of them to survive? You can’t. The person who is behind this all probably wanted to see them all die. How can you crash a plane, and expect anything else after that?
does anyone think that jack and kate will eventually get together??????
here u go scott e-mail as required. i’ll get the map to u asap
^Thanks, I replied to you in an email, it may have gone to your spam folder because of the title that was used.
so can i get that map?
thanx
He hasnt sent it to me yet.
If the electromagnet was destroyed/ turned off then wont that mess up the compass on michael’s boat? I think that that was why desmond couldnt leave(he was following the compass).
Hi me agen! ryt i have a new theory. it does seem awful far fetched but here goes! black and white. in the first season walt asks locke how to play backgammon and Locke explains backgammon to Walt by holding up one black and one white piece, saying, “Two players, two sides — one is light, one is dark.” and in another episode locke appears in one of claires dreams with one black eyeball and one white. then when sawyer got glasses they were made of one side of black and one side of white. On other occasions, the colors represent opposition between individuals. In the closing scene of “Collision”, Jack and Ana-Lucia, ostensibly leaders of their respective factions, face each other with Jack wearing white and Ana-Lucia wearing black!! thenin “The Long Con”, Jack and Locke, immediately following a an argument between the two, are seen wearing opposing white and black shirts. and when jack found a pusch with one black stone and one white stone on a pair of mummified corpses!!
Awesome points Michelle. Leave your email address in a comment in the field, and I will see if your interested in helping out in the project that we are starting for Lost. So far its me and about 5 or so others. Leave your email, and I will send you the information and see if your interested. (again..no one will see your email address but me.)
Hi i love all the theories! ive been having a look at a few things, although im as confused as everyone else. You maybe already know this but ‘Dharma’ means reality or natural law, to do with religion and spirituality, ‘The way of the higher truths’. This is displayed throughout both seasons, always talking about higher beings, beleifs, whether its reality or an experiment etc. It encompasses virue, morality, religious merit and duty. again all the things they are faced with.
I have also been looking at the numbers (4, 8, 15 etc) and the correspndance with the i-ching symbols and how they fit on the Dharma inititive emblem. So far nothing makes sense.
None of this exactly matches all the questions we have, but i was just trying to understand where it might be going as far as the ‘Experiment’ might be all about.
At first i thought they were all there to to Purgatory, and face all the things they have done in the past and make them right.
Sorry for spouting so much rubbish, i just cant get it out of my head and makes less and less sense the more i find out or remember. Im going to sit down and watch both series all at once.
i dont beleive a plane of that size could actually crash with ANY survivors, let alone the ones in the tail section, it would disintegrate surely? After thinking about the islands natural healing ability, how do we know they didnt all die, and the doctors didnt help bring some of them back to life. Now they are watching how they survive together. I had also thought that they were all in a hospital in comas hooked up to machine living the same dream, and being fed snippets of other peoples memories, but that seems a bit of a cop out and a bit mad. Im going to not think about it til the 3rd seasons on.Mind u i heard they had made 5 seasons! i dont think i can cope with that.
Actually, Lost has allready signed up to do a full 7 seasons of the show.
