Trapper Keeper is one of those lesser known but really applications. I came across it the other night and immediately thought of some good uses for it.  Trapper Keeper looks and functions very similarly to Spotlight, but it stores random pieces of information that you can access quickly and easily.
I wrote before about how I use the Dashboard, particularly the sticky note to have a logon ID that is a random set of numbers that is impossible for me to remember that I use pretty regularly. I’m not really a big fan of the Dashboard because it tends to get bogged down in resources and slows the computer down noticeably, but it was the best solution I had until I found Trapper Keeper. To use Trapper Keeper you just type or copy and paste the little nugglet of information that you want to store and it saves it forever.

Once you have some data stored, to access it its a simple keyboard command just like you can use with Spotlight, or you can click on the menu bar icon. This will bring up a little search box for you to find the data you just stored. This may not be a must have application but I thought it was pretty cool, and I will definetly get some good use out of it. Now I’ll never have to look up the phone number to Randy’s Pizza again…mmmm.
It’s certainly worth at least checking out, especially if you have one small piece of information that you constantly use and are having to look it up because your slow like me and cant remember it.
