Speed Freak | Prioritize Processors For Increased Speed

Posted by Scott | July 26, 2007 .

speed freakSpeed Freak is an application that allows you to re-prioritize applications so that the active app recieves the most processor power.  Out of the box, OS X is set to allow all running applications equal access to the processors which can cause lag time.  Speed Freak overrides these settings and give priority to the application that you are currently using, which will result in faster application performance.  Speedfreak uses the Unix ‘renice’ command.  Because it uses this command, your account must have admin access.

Speed Freak will not affect graphic card performance and will have little benefit for gaming.  Additionally, Speed Freak will not affect network performance, but it should allow your browser to better handle complex pages that are heavy in images and coding and give you faster rendering times.

Download Speed Freak and speed up your applications.
