RadioLover | Rip Streaming Radio To Your Mac

RadioLover, formerly known as StreamRipperX is a great application that allows you to listen to streaming radio stations in iTunes and rip the songs directly to your computer in MP3 format. RadioLover keeps the ID3 tag information in tact so you wont have to worry about filling in the artist and title name for the songs. Whats even better is the fact that RadioLover is able to detect when a song has finished so you can leave it running and the songs will be ripped in individual MP3s and copied to your computer.

The application costs 15 dollars to unlock the full mode, but honestly, the demo version is more than enough to meet my needs. In the demo you are able to let RadioLover run uninterrupted for 30 minutes before it will cut off, at which point you can just start it back up and continue recording music.

RadioLover copies the music by detecting it as it plays across your sound card, so the copied version is a perfect copy without any distortion, so the quality of the music depends on the quality of the station you are listening to. I try to stick with 128bit or better.

To use RadioLover just start up both iTunes and RadioLover, navigate to the radio section within iTunes and find the station you want to listen to. Once you’ve found one drag the station over to RadioLover and hit record. As long as you have the station playing in iTunes you can just leave RadioLover going and it will continue to create the Mp3’s in the designated folder until you either stop the recording, you reach the size limit you can set in the options, or you reach the 30 minute time limit set in the demo.

Once you’ve finished recording, just drag the files over to your iTunes library and your done. You can now listen to these songs whenever you want, or even copy them over to your iPod. And of course using iPodRip, or Senuti you can copy the songs from your iPod back to one of your other computers.
