Apple Front Row comes pre installed on the new Intel based Macs, but what if you have an older Power PC chip set? Front Row Enabler allows you to install and use Front Row with no problems. For those that don’t know what Front Row is, it is basically a media center type application that gives you a nice looking interface to navigate through your movies, music, and photos. From the Apple website:
“Enjoy — and share — your music, movies, and photos from across the room on a gorgeous, portable display. Control the mood of the room with instant access to iTunes music and playlists. Or listen to your favorite radio program or Internet talk show anytime. Best of all, MacBook Pro lets you display your own creations with professional flair.”
Instructions for installing Front Row on your Mac:
1. Download Front Row software from the Apple website
2. Open the dmg that you just downloaded and copy Front Row to your Desktop. The file must be on the desktop for it to work, but do not run it from here yet or you will get an error telling you cant install it.
3. Download Front Row Enabler 1.5 (via AndrewEscobar.com)
4. Once downloaded, open the disk image and run the application from here (do not copy to your desktop or computer)
5. Once prompted, select to Install Front Row and enter your password. Once the installation is complete, select Continue.
6. Two OS X system files need to be patched in order for Front Row to work. Select the Enable Front Row button and enter your password once more. Once Front Row Enabler has finished patching the files, select OK and quit Enabler.
7. Restart your computer. Once back up you will now be able to use Front Row. The keystrokes to access Front Row are:
To set the Front Row keyboard preferences go into system preferences> keyboard and mouse and then go to keyboard shortcuts tab. Once here make sure the Front Row shortcut option is checked.
Disclaimer: Since you are modifying system files you may want to back up important files first. I have used Enabler to install Front Row before and had no problems at all. But better safe than sorry.

Thanks, always wondered how I could do that on my G5.
