AdiumX - IM client for OS X

AdiumX - MultiProtocol IM Client

Out of the box, OS X comes with an instant messaging client called iChat which works great and has a lot of great features with the video conferencing and all that. The only thing I dont like about it is that it’s not customizable. AdiumX is alot like Trililian or Gaim on the PC in that it has a huge community base that creates, submits, and supports hundereds of plugins and themes for both the contact list and message windows.

Adium X is free, and supports many protocols such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Jabber, ICQ, GoogleTalk, Bonjour, and a couple of others. With an endless list of features such as chat encryption, message logging, tabbed messages, and itunes integration, AdiumX is by far a better IM client than iChat and certainly that peice of garbage AIM. You can see some screenshots of Adium running on my computer below (names are blurred out so you cant stalk me :) ) :

This was a timely post. I was just complaining about how useless iChat is and how boring Fire is…i just downloaded Adium and it’s like i’m chatting for the first time. Your find has rekindled the romance i once had with wasting time at work by IM-ing people all day. Thank you!
