Kellam is my new goal

In the search engines its not hard to rank on your own full name, but im greedy and want number one on just my lastname which is Kellam. Many of you allready know my lastname is Kellam, but for those of you that dont, now you know. Basically this post about the family name of Kellam will not be of any fun or interest to read for you. The Kellam family tree is a mighty strong tree with roots all they way down to various countries such as Germany as well as a few others. Not only is the Kellam name nearly impossible for the telemarketers to say correctly, its also the name of a highschool in Virginia Beach. Although I am near genius, Im not sure if the Kellam High school is named after my family, or some imposter. Currently in google, I am ranked around the 350 mark for the term “Kellam”, mainly this is due to the high school. But watch out Kellam High School Knights, I’m here to battle and take your seat at the kings round table called Google. The only other real claim to fame of the Kellam family name that I know of is that it is a name brand for hunting knives. These knives made by the Kellams are Finnish knives, and I do beleive the name is of a Finland descent as well. So if you guys are making money, and wish to leave the inheritance to a deserving family member, just remember the name Scott Kellam.

If you would like to help me in the cause, feel free to link directly to this post using the word “Kellam ” as the link.

UPDATE: Up to number 13 in Google as of July 28, 2006

  3. Are you one of the “Virginia Beach Kellam’s”?

Sorry, couldn’t resist. I don’t know if you are still monitoring this blog – looks like you are, but I had to Google you after I got another call from one of your buddies this weekend – I think it was Todd in Alexandria (I Googled his phone number) . . . . no bother. See, I’m listed in the phonebook by my initials, so everybody looking for an S., or S. L., calls me – again, no bother. I find that funny because if I was looking for someone from a well-known family (particularly known as “rich”) I wouldn’t expect their phone number to be in the book. But on the other hand, I am suprised when my friends say they don’t know my phone number and don’t have the thought to check there.

So how do you answer that question – being one of the “them”? I’ve been asked all my life and just tell them I’m one of the fisherman Kellam’s – not the farmer Kellam’s. My clan hails from Gloucester. I think the early Kellam settlers either went from New York / Ellis Island to the Eastern Shore – then branched to Gloucester and P.A. County, or, they went from Jamestown / Yorktown to Gloucester – then to the Eastern Shore and some came down here to P.A. Country. I’ve seen research supporting both. Do you have any significant research? Finnish, huh? I thought we were of Welsh descent – the name derives from “Kelham” – a Welsh fishing village – back in the days before surnames – when you would be known as “Scott of Kelham” for instance. And thousands of years of revising led to all the various spellings there are today. But I remain a “Kellam” – so if you get that knife company inheritance – how about sharing??

So, give me a call sometime – we “cousins” can catch up !! And I can let you know what your friends are up to – I’ve talked to a few !! LOL !!

P.S. Your blog came up on the first page of my Google search for you . . . Movin’ on up !!

  4. Oh, one more thing – I think we even live nearby – Lynnhaven Inlet area? Do give a call – it’ll be fun !!
