Guns N Roses

Arguably one of the greatest bands of the late 80s, Guns N Roses have always been a favorite of mine. They still could be a great band if Axl wasnt a coked out physco but they will never play together again. So the next best thing is to at least see a part of the band. Dizzy Reed and his new band were playing at Rum Runners in downtown Raleigh playing all their old songs as well as some others from the likes of Kiss and Styx. So the Northern High school class of 2000 join up and go out to see them play, no one was certain on how to get there but we made it. I had an OK time, we didnt stay for very long, but we got to hear some of the classics like November Rain and Knockin on Heavens Door. One thing I wasnt to fond of was the well over 40 year olds there rockin out like they were still in their primes. I saw way to much of one old womans underwear due to her dancing and unnecessarily short skirt, and then there was the really drunk and drugged out guy with the tie die shirt just sittin and gazing in amazement as if it were the full Guns n Roses band playing 3 inches in front of him. At some point you would think its time to grow up a little and make something out of your life, but I guess maybe some people dont see it that way. So we stayed for about an hour and a half and as we were leaving we shook hands and what not with band since they were at the door thanking everyone for coming out..which was slightly uncomfortable as the drummer was giving me the typical black man hand shake with the shoulder bumping and what not. Back to the point of not knowing where the place was…we found it with no problem really, so obviously going home would just be the reverse of getting there. Not so. It took about 20 minutes to get there from my place, and a good hour to get home. We went back on the roads we took to get there but they were one way streets and there was no place to get back on the highway where we were.. at least not that we saw so we ended up basically going in a huge circle to get back to my place, but it was a fun adventure through some of the not so high class neighborhoods of Raleigh.

All in all it was an OK time, I got to see some old friends and I can at least say I saw a piece of the real Guns N Roses. On another note I have updated the Christmas list on the right hand side with links to the useless stuff that I want so now there are no excuses for any of you.
