Adventures To South Point Mall

Posted by Scott | November 20, 2005 .

I remembered tonite why I hate the malls during this time of year. I decided I would maybe try to get some Christmas shopping done early this year. So I head over to South Point Mall only to find that apparently November 19th is the day that everyone in Durham wants to start shopping. I live about 15 minutes away from the mall on a normal day but tonite it takes me near bout an hour to get there. I should have known the trip wasnt going to be good after the first 30 minutes past. And after the 2nd 30 minutes and gone by and I was still in traffic I should have just turned around and attempted on another day. While driving I past 4 wrecks and had get in the exit lane to the mall at the 1 mile marker from the actual exit due to the line of traffic allready forming. Once I made it to the mall unbelievably I found a parking spot as some guy was coming out. Once you get in the mall its like people disregard all aspects of any common sense that they may have had. There are two lanes in the mall one on the left, and one on the right with stuff in the middle. What does that remind you of…I would say it sort of reminds me of a road. A left and right lane and a median in the middle. Now why people cant walk on the right side just like they drive I have no idea. Instead everyone is going in opposite directions on both sides causing more anger to build. And if you are so unlucky that people with strollers are coming you might as well just stop walking and let them pass on the side they choose, other wise they are sure to aim for your shins, or just close their eyes it would seem like and hope they get lucky and no run into someone….which was not the case tonite. On to my next point…Asian people. Now I know Asians have short legs, but really…I think they might be one of the most slow moving creatures on the face of this earth. I could go on and on about why I did not have fun at the mall tonite but I will just list them instead:

1. Large Number of People
2. Asians walk slow
3. People cant follow the rules of driving when walking.
4. High school kids making out on the benches
5. Indians walking around with burger king crowns on.
6. They had a snow machine outside and everyone has to stop and look up at it and were amazed because it was “actually snowing” The morons didnt see the really loud and large snow machines mounted to the buildings.
7. I had to wait in line to go down the escalator, as well as share a step with a large man with his pants around his thighs and smelled of black and milds.
8. Yuppies in the Apple store looking at the flippin iPods
9. Millions of little kids surrouding the Xbox360 demo
10. People wearing santa hats in November

I use to work in the mall for a good 5 years and never have I ever seen that many people there. I will not be back in the mall this year and dont suggest that any one else go untill about mid January. I think Ill be doing all the shopping on the interweb this year.
