80s Flashback - Hypercolor T-Shirts

Posted by Scott | October 22, 2006 .

hypercolor t shirtsSince everyone enjoyed my childhood Reebok Pumps story, I thought I’d share another one. I was talking to one of my good friends that I’ve known since I was like 4 years old lastnite. She lived 2 houses down from me so we always waited for the school bus together in the mornings with the other kids in the neighborhood. My mom is a picture fanatic and looks for any opportunity to take one, so the first day of school every year we all knew it was coming. Pictures on the front porch, pictures in the driveway, pictures at the bus stop, anywhere she could get one she did.

While talking to me friend, this picture came up and apparently she still has a copy of it. She was kind enough to remind me of it and had a good laugh at my 80s style glasses, which said nintendo on the side (and they had a mario brothers case), as well as my hypercolor t-shirt that I loved so much.

If you dont know what a hypercolor t-shirt is, well then I’ve pretty much lost respect for you. They were shirts usually either pink or blue in their natural state. But when areas of them heated up they changed to a different color. This is just classic 80s regalia here. Looking back on them though, I realize they arent very cool, and probably werent when I was wearing them either. For one thing, if you had sweaty pits, every one knew it because you had a blue shirt with two pink armpits, furthermore people always wanted to breath all over you to see it change colors. From the picture I found they do have one good use though. Girls can wear them and any would be giant handed men trying to grope them would think twice, because now there would be proof.

Did anyone else wear the hypercolor t-shirts, or is this just one more thing for you to write limmericks about me?

And no, you can’t see the picture.

After about 10 wash/dry cycles they turned brown. If you don’t post that pic, you are dead to me.

The Hypercolor t-shirts are now back and vastly improved. We now produce them and re-formulated them under the trademark Body Faders. Check them out and we have many more colors and garments.

I still have my Hypercolor T-shirt… actually I’m wearing it as I’m typing this… I have the purple turn to pink Generra shirt… never put it in the dryer after washing it so it still works after 20 years!! Great shirt… wish they still made them.. It was always the fashionable way to sweat… in the ’80s
